BICYCLE LIGHTS LAW REQUIREMENTS IN Rhode Island

Rhode Island

At nighttime, every bicycle must have a front light emitting a bright white light that is visible from at least 500 feet away. The rear of the bicycle must be equipped with a red reflector, approved by the division of motor vehicles, which is visible from 600 feet away when in front of a motor vehicle's headlamps. A red light emitting lamp visible from 500 feet away can also be used with the red reflector.

When selling a new bicycle or pedal, it is important to note that it must have reflective components, approved by the department, on each pedal. These reflective components must be visible from the front and rear of the bicycle during darkness from a distance of 200 feet. Riding a bicycle without reflective pedals is not allowed.
