According to 39:4-10, bicycles must have a front lamp emitting white light visible up to 500 feet, and a rear lamp emitting red light visible up to 500 feet. A red reflector, approved by the division, may also be mounted on the rear to ensure visibility from 50-300 feet when in front of a motor vehicle's headlamps.
